Education

I have experience working as a science tutor at Cambridge University and have also spent 5 weeks tutoring and teaching Chinese students aged 12 to 18 English (including IELTS), leadership, chemistry, and drama. In addition to this, I have 10 years of leadership and communication instruction as a cadet at school and university. I enjoy working as a tutor because I am highly motivated by inspiring personal growth in others, and something like a few weeks of tutoring can have a profound impact on someone's life, particularly for young students. I see the role of a tutor and the opportunity to have a positive impact on others as both a serious responsibility and an honor. I have experience working with small and large classes, but I much prefer to teach individuals because it allows me to offer personalized assistance and attention. I greatly enjoy getting to know my students and watching them blossom.

Experience

I obtained a Master of Natural Sciences degree with 1st class honors from the University of Cambridge in 2016. I specialized in Geological Sciences with courses in Math, Physics, Materials Science and Sustainability, and research in meteorites.

Hobbies

I'm a very social and active person with wide ranging interests. In university I was highly involved within my subject department, as a committee member for the student-run geological society and a representative of student views. I also played rugby, did gymnastics and martial arts, took part in many expeditions and travelled the world. My main interest is in people, understanding them and encouraging personal growth. One of my main goals in tutoring is to go beyond pure exam preparation and inspire individuals to better themselves, applying their knowledge through their hobbies and interests in order to become more motivated and confident people. I have found that this is the best way to understand a subject - through application.
